Afraid to break the bonds

I glance around and wonder, as couples sit around,
as they fawn and coo in pleasure, if true happiness is found.

I have never been a double set, just me, myself, alone,
and for me to actually seek it... is to draw blood from a stone.

I've heard rumours and vague stories, of deep friendships, tried and true,
shattered by three simple words; they just said "I love you."

But as it was not true love, a simple infatuation,
it left the other party stunned, and in an awkward situation.

I wish not to hurt my female friends (as I am the straight persuasion),
and if I'm asked to 'join' them, I won't advance the situation.

Primary function: Jumba's first attempt at creating an experiment. (This is prior to meeting Dr Jaques von Hamsterwheel. ("VIEL! HAMSTER-VIEL! Zat is getting very annoying with all the mis-pronunciation-ing of my name...") Ok, HamsterVIEL...)

...I thought Hamsterwheels name was Roadkill, cause he got ranover. (VEIL, VEIL!) NO, IT'S ROADKILL! So says me and my tank.
